Somehow evoking both Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise in Rainman

C. Stryker’s description of me -my favorite of all time- in reference to this, which I still won’t watch. I know I’m aging because ten years ago the embarrassment of a video like that would have actually killed me.

It’s particularly apt that it came from Stryker, who I like for the same reasons I like this guy: if art’s value lies partly in its capacity to take suffering and transform it into existential wisdom, the Internet’s value comes partly from its capacity to take stupidity, cliche, small miseries, and everything offensive and turn it into humor. Stryker’s site is like an alchemist’s laboratory, and I’m proud to join the menagerie of defectives there.
